Proper Care and Handling of CD's and DVD's

You can shorten the life of the CD and DVD discs with smooth delivery and care. Here are a few tips to prevent scratches and smudges.

Writing labels. Use a soft felt pen on the disc. Avoid the use of pencils or pens. Contributors to the top of the disc only.

Storing discs. Keep your discs do not leave in direct sunlight and extreme temperatures, and never after it out of them.

The thorough cleaning. If your disc is dirty or dusty, you can cleanwith water, a small amount of soap and a soft, lint-free cloth. Wipe from the center of the disc outwards in straight lines.

Handle with care. Hold the disc with your thumb in the hole in the middle and your fingers along the outer edge of the disc. Avoid touching the surface, especially on the bottom.

Dealing with scratches. Polish the scratched areas with a toothpaste-covered cotton swab or cloth from the center of the disc to the edge.

If this does not work, the coatDisc in a thin layer of Vaseline, neutral shoe polish or floor wax. Wipe off the excess wax with a soft cloth, moving in a straight line from the center of the disc to the brim.

If none of these tips work, take to save to a CD for the refinishing.

CDs and DVDs can last longer much if you clean and care for them properly. Follow these tips and your CDs as long as they need you.
