VA Governor Bob McDonnell Delivers the Republican Response to the State of the Union
The following are excerpts from tonights Republican speech to the nation, the following of Virginia's Governor Bob McDonnell President delivered Obama's State of the Union Address: Jobs: Good government policy should promote economic growth and strengthen the capacity, the private sector to create new jobs . We must adopt policies to promote entrepreneurship and innovation, so America can better compete with the world. What government should not do is pile on more taxes, regulation and litigation,to kill jobs and hurt the middle class. Consumption: The amount of this debt is on pace to double to triple in five years and ten. The national debt is already more than $ 100,000 per household. That is simply unacceptable. The President of the partial freeze of discretionary spending is a laudable step, but a small one. The circumstances of our time require us to reconsider again and the proper, limited role of government at every level. HEALTH CARE: All Americans agree we need a health system thataffordable, accessible and high quality. But most Americans do not want to turn over the best medical care in the world to the Federal Government. ENERGY: Advances in technology can be developed to reduce more natural gas, nuclear, wind, coal and alternative energy on your electric bill. Here in Virginia, we have the opportunity, the first state on the east coast for the exploration and production of oil and natural gas offshore.
