The cosmetic market has grown in leaps and bounds over the past few decades due to the millions of women worldwide that invest in everything from makeup to hair care products. In recent years however the industry has seen the male population sit up and take notice of the self pampering that they have been turning a cold shoulder to for ages. Day trips to the salon are not solely a woman's world any longer as men make their way into the cosmetic market. Once they discover the many ways to care for one's skin and body, most are reluctant to ever live without these products again.
Men haven't been known to invest a lot of time or money in their appearance. In the past a dirty, hard working man was considered sexy and masculine. Now however, the appearance of dirt under the nails and grimy skin isn't such a turn on to the average woman. It is in fact quite the opposite. The market has changed so drastically over the years that products such as shampoo and hair dye are now being printed specifically for men. This means that you can now walk down the hair care aisle of your local grocery store and find men smiling up from the cover of a box of hair colour. Men no longer need to feel as if they are buying a woman's product. They now have their very own.
It makes perfect sense that men may not find it particularly inviting to walk into a salon filled with ladies gossiping about their husbands and friends. The man that is interested in laser hair removal or enjoying a facial can now do so in a friendly environment that caters strictly to men only. Not only does this make it more comfortable for men, it also allows the ladies to keep their salon space to themselves. The fact that separate locations exist to serve men proves that the demand from them for personal grooming facilities is growing.
Personal care products for men have greatly gone beyond the basic soap and an old razor blade. In fact, razors keep getting more advanced and improved as every year goes by. Lotions and moisturizers were once foreign products in every man's eyes. Now it's common to find that they carry it around daily as well. The metrosexual trend that began a handful of years ago is on a steady climb as more men decide that they want to get in on the pampering of one's own self with things that smell great and feel even better. It isn't that women have been keeping personal care a secret all of these years; it's that men didn't feel they could partake without reducing their manhood, which many are learning simply isn't true.
Great hygiene and personal care can go a long way in making you look and feel younger. Men aren't harming anyone but themselves by avoiding products that are good for your skin and hair. Aging and skin care is something we all worry about but there are preventative measures to reduce the appearance of years for both women and men.
